This tool helps you create beautiful sheet music for the 15-string lap harp. Here's how to get started:

🎼 Creating Your Melody

Use the Visual Melody Editor to compose your music by clicking on the staff:

1. Select a duration from the toolbar (whole note, half note, quarter note, eighth note, sixteenth note)
2. Click on the staff where you want to place a note - higher on the staff = higher pitch
3. Add a dot by clicking the "• Dot" button before placing a note (makes it 1.5x longer)
4. Add a tie by clicking the "⌣ Tie" button to connect notes of the same pitch
5. Use the eraser to remove notes you don't want
6. Undo mistakes with the ↶ button

📢 Important Note

Your actual lap harp may sound one octave higher than the playback in this tool. This is normal and doesn't affect the sheet music notation.

🎵 Adding Details

Fill in your song information at the top:

• Title: Name your composition
• Composer: Add your name or the original composer
• Time Signature: Usually 4/4, 3/4, or 6/8
• Tempo: Click the dropdown to adjust playback speed (BPM)
• Lyrics: Click the lyrics dropdown to add words to your song

▶️ Playing & Saving

• Play button: Hear your composition with audio playback
• Download PDF: Get a printable sheet music file
• Save: Store your work to come back to later (saved in your browser)
• Import MIDI: Load a MIDI file to convert to harp notation

🖨️ Printing Your Sheet Music

For perfect sizing on your printer:

• Download the PDF using the "Download PDF" button
• Open the PDF and print at 100% scale (no scaling or "fit to page")
• This ensures the notes and staff are sized correctly for your lap harp

📝 Advanced: Text Editor

For advanced users, the Text Based Editor section lets you type notes directly using notation like G3(1/4) A3(1/2). Click the ❓ button in that section for details.

Tip: Your work is automatically saved in your browser, but download a PDF for permanent storage!
